About
Fleur Kakasi is an Australian artist, architect and designer, who creates works on paper that juxtapose playful botanical themes with architectural detail. Fleur brings practised technical drawing skills to the fore, offset by expressive movement and considered colour palettes.
Inspired by her childhood in lush Queensland, and her time living in Singapore, her work takes reference from local botanics and vernacular architecture, whilst also leaning into related historical and cultural motifs.
Working in watercolour on paper, Fleur's works take on a botanical collage style, in both two and three dimensions. Pieces are collaged and layered with paper cuts, but also in two dimensions with watercolour layers allowing details to be concealed and revealed throughout.
As well as individual art pieces, Fleur also works with many large luxury and lifestyle brands locally and overseas on product and packaging design and custom illustration.
Fleur's own label, FLEUR KAKASI, focuses on Art Textiles. Marrying colour, layered texture and beautiful design in textiles has always been a passion, but it is now a reality for others to share - short run textile offerings that spark nostalgia, energy and whimsy.
Fleur also heads up LIDO LEONE, an emerging resortwear brand as co-founder and designer.
